- The president appoints all judges of the federal judiciary and the marshals of the court

- He also grants pardons to individuals accused or convicted of crimes
- The president may cancel a persons, crime end or shorten a prison sentence, and postpone sentences
- He takes responsibility for carrying out court orders and decisions even if the president disagrees with the decision
